THE TOWN

Chioggia with its ancient and beautiful historical centre is also known as “Little Venice”, thanks to all the bridges and channels. Chioggia is in the south lagoon of Venice and it’s easily accessible both from the sea and from the mainland. In terms of population, it is the sixth town in Veneto and the second around Venice. “Corso del Popolo” is the centre of the town, full of typical “caffé”, shops and people, walking from the Cathedral to Vigo square. Near Corso del Popolo you find Canal Vena, famous for fish and vegetable markets.

“TEGNUE”

The presence of submerged rocks far from the coast has created real "reef", naturally developed over several thousand years and called Tegnue. These rocks are common all over the Adriatic Sea, but the most famous are located in Chioggia..

Recently, this natural habitat has been recognized and protected by the establishment of a Biological Protection Zone and the ban on fishing is applied. This gives new opportunities to scuba divers: it is possible to visit safely a unique environment populated by various plant and animal species..
